Palm Wood is a type of wood exclusive to the Sand Islands added on January 23rd 2016.
Although the wood has many working methods of collection, it is notorious for being extremely difficult to obtain and has a reputation for being illegitimately harvested.
Characteristics[]
They only consist of a trunk and some leaves, however, palm trees often branch out after they have grown for a long time, nearing the end of the tree's life span. Palm trees consistently grow slanted but are still anchored on the ground.
Its exterior is tan in color and is textured with the Slate material. Its interior is also tan and is commonly confused with Fir Wood, Pine Wood, Birch Wood and Elm Wood planks, as they all have a similar color.
Its leaves, however, are composed of a light-green color and textured with the Grass material. The formation of the leaves is also arranged uniquely and seems to be "jutting out" from the top part of the trunk.
Harvesting[]
Although there is no official way of harvesting the wood, with Defaultio confirming that Palm Wood was created solely to tease players, many methods of collection still exist.
The only way of getting to the Sand Islands without exploiting in-game bugs is by dragging large pieces of Elm Wood, Pine Wood, or Fir Wood through the Ocean; however, most attempts are unsuccessful and returning with Palm Wood is extremely difficult.
For a short period of time, a glitch existed within the game that allowed players to reach the Sand Islands using a Utility Vehicle and Mundane Chair. However, it has since been patched and players will now die after spawning the vehicle.
Shortly after the 2018 Christmas event concluded, an unboxed Toboggan could be used to collect Palm Wood. If sat on, the Toboggan could be picked up and would begin moving in accordance with the player's cursor, allowing them to "fly". This bug was fixed shortly after it's discovery, and although the method was unreliable, it still merited a small amount of Palm Wood.
There was also a glitch that existed for less than a week that caused water to not damage players. During this time period, it was possible to drive a vehicle on the seafloor without being damaged. This was a huge opportunity for players who wished to obtain a lot of Palm and Snowglow wood easily, as they could simply use the Sand Dock to get their vehicle back onto land. The glitch was found on March 30th 2019 and fixed on the 5th of April 2019.
It is still possible to use the "door bridge" glitch to obtain the wood, however, constructing a door bridge long enough to reach the Sand Islands can be tedious. Despite the aforementioned difficulties, it is a functioning method that can be used to harvest palm wood.
The tree is able to be cut with any type of Axe except for the Candy Cane Axe.
